Hi All,

I am having problems getting my Apache to start after installing WAS Express 5.02.

I ensured I was using the supported software so I would not have problems, but have had nothing but problems.
I am running, Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1, Apache 1.3.23-10 and WAS Express 5.02.

I have also installed the WAS Security Plugin for WAS 5.02.

When I start Apache I receive the following message:

[Thu May 6 09:38:32 2004] [warn] Loaded DSO /opt/IBM/WebSphere/Express502/Plugins/bin/mod_app_server_http.so uses plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI! (please recompile it with -DEAPI)
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd started

I read this to mean the apache server has still started but might have problems, but the server is not running. When I attempt to stop the server I receive the following message:

/usr/sbin/apachectl stop: httpd (pid 2070?) not running

Thus it appears to me Apache attempted to start but something went wrong.

My error_log looks like this:

[Thu May 6 09:44:08 2004] [warn] Loaded DSO /opt/IBM/WebSphere/Express502/Plugins/bin/mod_app_server_http.so uses plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI! (please recompile it with -DEAPI)
[Thu May 6 09:44:08 2004] [warn] pid file /var/run/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?
[Thu May 6 09:44:08 2004] [notice] Initializing the WebSphere Plugin

The lines in the httpd.conf file the Security Plugin changed are:

LoadModule app_server_http_module "/opt/IBM/WebSphere/Express502/Plugins/bin/mod_app_server_http.so"
WebSpherePluginConfig "/opt/IBM/WebSphere/Express502/Plugins/config/cells/plugin-cfg.xml"

I have checked all of my install logs and WASX and the security plugin were installed correctly.

Please help I am about to pull my hair out.
Thanks in advance.

Try mod_app_server_http_eapi.so instead (though I'm not sure if that is
shipped with Express).

Check:

Thanks Juanma,

I have already tried your suggesgtion, and this failed as well. I can't remember error message, but this module did not work either.

I think the problem lies with my understanding how Apache, Express and the Security plugin work.

I have since been doing some more investigating and have been able to get Apache and Express to work together without the security plugin. This is fine for my testing purposes. Now I just need to get Apache to listen on Port 7080 (At least I think thats
what I have to do).

Thanks for the suggestions.
