GIMP makes crappy screenshots
|

| Whenever I try to make a screenshot, using GIMP 1.3(the only way in SuSE9
Prof. right?) the bar below - the kicker - turns out all black on the
screenshot.
Why? Have anyone tried this before, and have a workaround?

I no longer have Gimp 1.3, but I do have Gimp pre 2.0 which is almost the
same thing. My screen capture works fine. If you are going to use the
latest version instead of version 1.2.5 then go to there site and get the
newest version. It does most things but scanning is disabled. I scan and
save using 1.2.5 but I edit my pics in pre2.0. The menues are slightly
different so I prefer to learn where everything is now so I am better
prepared for when the real version 2.0 comes out.
Hope this helps even though you also have ksnapshot,
Stacy

It should be included in the package kdegraphics that comes with SuSE 8.2.
Install this one.

Use Ksnapshot. It works. The only thing I do not like about is that
PNGs are saved with too little compression.

You're right! Thanks!
I can start it manually, but didn't see it in any menu, therefore I didn't
know it existed.

Same here. I've been looking for hours to find an rpm to install. I
couldn't figure out why kdegraphics3 was supposed to provide it and yet
couldn't find it in the menus. :-(
