WCS 5.1 to 5.5 Migration

Looking for help in migration from WCS v5.1 to WC v5.5. I'm trying to
understand this whole "master catalog"
idea. In our current implementation (5.1) we have super categories, main
categories (under supers) and root categories (under main). In those we
have products assigned. We have several products assigned to multiple
categories. We also have several items assigned to multiple products. This
is all in one catalog.
Mainly, I just need to know how the migration scripts (provided with v5.5)
will migrate this data correctly? Is our current DB going to have to be
split in two basically? One catalog for all of the products and one catalog
for all of the relationships (category to category, product to category,
item to product)? It's quite confusing.

| Well I have no clue how the migration script works, but basically I do not
think it will split it in 2!
You will have everything under the master catalog. I use the Express 5.5
version (not BE) and the interface (accelerator) only let you mange the
master catalog anyway.
However if you have one item linked to different products ... you may have
problem using the accelerator.
I discovered in the 5.5 that using the accelerator may screw up imported
data that were imported so that it would work some way.
Good luck anyway for the migration ....

| Hi Anthony
I am in the same situation as you were. We are looking at a upgrade from WCS 5.1 to WC 5.5. So I am looking for anythning that can help us in this process.
So could you please give me some recormendations on what to avoid and what to do first ect.
