Author fail to copy instance ear file

2004-01-19, 2:48 pm

Dear folks,
I just created a commerce 5.5 instance, however, the instance ear file didn't seem to get copied to the installedApps directory. I got the following exception while starting my commerce server. How do I resolve this problem? thanks

I am also running into the same problem. Would really appreciate any postings on any possible resolutions for this problem. Thanks.

I have resolved this problem. During the deploy process we also noticed that in addition to not getting copied to the installApps directory, the contents of our WAR files was not being distributed into the proper directories. I am on the z/OS 1.4 platf
orm with WebSphere Application Server 5.0 build level W501002. To resolve the problem we had to re-run most of the install jobs to recreate the WebSphere HFS file system, created the /WebSphere/V5R0M0/AppServer directory structures, -recopied all the fi
les, scripts, XMLs etcc... and reset all the file permissions. It is working fine now. It appears that something polluted the WebSphere file system or a bad application corrupted something. Traces never showed why things were not being coipied to /i
nstalledApps, no security violations, nothing.

The problem was caused by a configuration conflict (maybe two administrators saved the master configuration repository at the same time, leaving it with inconsistencies) resulting in node synchronization failures.

You can troubleshoot this in the following way:

- Look for the serverindex.xml file at every node directory (/opt/Websphere/DeploymentManager/config/cells/cell_name/nodes/node_name/serverindex.xml).
This configuration file contains entries for every deployed application in the node (<deployedApplications>MyApp.ear</deployedApplications> ).
- Each entry <deployedApplication> entries must have a corresponding directory in
/opt/Webpshere/DeploymentManager/config/cells/cell_name/applications.
- It's very likely that you'll have some missing application folders (in other words, you have some <deployedApplication> entries in serverindex.html, which do not have a corresponding application folder). You must delete the <deployedApplication> e
ntry in serverindex.xml for these apps.
- Perform a full resync (either using adminconsole, or by stopping the node agent and running syncNode).
- Reinstall your application.
