Hello,
I am trying to install WC 5.6 BE on linux for x86 using the -console
option. I downloaded DB/2 fixpak 5 (c53ipml.tar) and untarred it to the
directory /home/andrew/ibm/db2_fixpak5. In that directory I now have
the readMe files and:

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Feb 20 2004 db2
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 12559 Feb 20 2004 db2_deinstall
drwxr-xr-x 21 bin bin 4096 Feb 20 2004 doc
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 363950080 Aug 24 21:59 FP5_MI00069.tar
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 7772 Feb 20 2004 installFixPak

I am running the install as root from directory /home/andrew/ibm/1 and
when I get to the point in the install where it asks for the location of
db2 fixpak 5 I get this error over and over...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Insert the IBM DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition Version 8.1
Fixpak 5 for Linux CD and specify the location of the CD-ROM drive below.

CD Location [/home/andrew/ibm/1/./] /home/andrew/ibm/db2_fixpak5

Press 1 for Next, 3 to Cancel or 4 to Redisplay [1]
Invalid location; re-enter
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this page:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docvie...s=utf-8&lang=en
makes it sound like Websphere Commerce 5.6 Business Edition for Linux on
xSeries can be installed over a network and that the fixpak can be
simply untarred to a directory and not burn to CD. Is that correct?

Am I having a problem because I am installing WC 5.6 from a directory on
the disk instead of from a CD?

Am I using incorrect syntax to specify the "CD Location"? I have tried
most every combination (trailing slash, no trailing slash, point to the
tar file, point to subdirectories created by tar, etc).

Why is the default location provided by the installer
"/home/andrew/ibm/1/./" ?? what's up w/that trailing /./ ??

Thanks,
Andrew Munn

I Figured this out incase anyone has the same problem. The correct
files to use at that prompt were from C56VFML.tgz, not c53ipml.tar.
