Installing WebSphere server on different node with different OS

Hi!

I want to install WebSphere Commerce Professional with an Oracle database that I have on a server running unix. But I will install websphere commerce pro on a server running Windows Server 2000. I read in the installation guide, that they don't accept het
erogeneous plateforms!? Why? It won't work like that? But I taught that Websphere was going to access only the database, not the operating system?

Can someone tell me if it will work or not with unix and windows?
