Author Problem with Express-Installation

I installed several times the express edition V5.6.1(express installation, not custom) on severals pc's. Only in one case the Installation was successful, on an ibm thinkpad with 2GB RAM. Im am sure, that i have no Hardware-problem, cause the other pcs ar
e more powerful( in any case) than the notebook.
The Installation process was successful, but when the system built the Instance the HttpServer could not be restarted....The effect: The server can not be started anymore.

Anyone an idea?

Test your httpd.conf for configuration problems. The instance creation
process updates the web server's configuration file. You can open a DOS
Command Prompt and test the httpd.conf for syntax errors with the
command 'apache -t'. The command is different for other operating
systems but I gave you the Windows version since you mention Express.

Hi Robert,

thnak you, for your answer. Yes, you are right, i'm using a windows platform(at this moment a windows 2003 Server, but i also tried Windows 2000(latest SP) and XP with SP1 and SP2)

I tried the command "apache -t" and this was the output:

C:\Programs\WebSphere\IBMHttpServer>apache -t [Mon Mar 06 08:11:52 2006] [warn] module ibm_app_server_http_module is already loaded,skipping [Mon Mar 06 08:1
1:52 2006] [warn] module ibm_app_server_http_module is already loaded,skipping c:/programs/websphere/ibmhttpserver/conf/httpd.conf: Syntax OK

when i try to start the webserver(in services) a popup window occurs with the following content:

"The IBM Server 1.3.28 on the local computer started an stopped. Some services stop automatically when they have no work to do, for example, the Performance logs an Alert service."

everytime i installed the Express version, the same message pops up...

ok, fortunately i have had the chance to ask another WebSphere Commerce pro and he told me the solution.
It seems that in the initalisation process, during installaion, the value 'listen 80' was forgotten to be implemented, after reconfiguration everything is fine!

thanks for your efforts...
