WebSphere Application Server - HttpURLConnection getOutputStream hangs

HttpURLConnection getOutputStream hangs

Have anyone experience this problem. I can use sun or ibm jsse
implementation to open a secure connection (https) to a url and
retrieve a web page. However, if I try to get a hold of the out put
stream to send data to a url the following call does not return:

OutputStream outputStream = httpURLConnection.getOutputStream();

Does any one know what might be causing this.
