Timed out while waiting for the server to be initialized

| I am unable to start my server. How can I fix this?

WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition V4.0
Application Server Launcher

The configuration file was defaulted to:
/foobar/websphere/v4.0/AppServer/config/server-cfg.xml
Using the single available node or the localhost node.
Using the single available server.
Initiating server launch.
Loaded domain "WebSphere Administrative Domain".
Selected node "xyz".
Selected server "Default Server".
WSPL0065I: Initiated server launch with process id 13980.

WSPL0058E: The server launch failed.
