Is there a command-line method of sending messages into the
admin console's error log? When our mainframe does its nightly
ipl I want to insert a message into the error log so that
when the log is reviewed in the morning it is obvious that
messages between the mainframe ipl messages are ok and due
to the ipl.

Mike,

Don't know of any command-line utility to do that, but you could
easily write one yourself using WebSphere's logging package called
JRas (similar to log4j). Do a search on IBM DeveloperWorks and you'll
find articles on how to use it there.
