Author Is Base64 Encoding used for login credentials for JDBC connection pooling

Hi,
I wanted to confirm that is it true that when we create a datasource to create a connection pool, we need to provide the username and password to Websphere. This information is stored in Websphere in form of BASE64 encoding. If not is it encrypted ?
