Installing WAS 5.0.0
|
|
|
| While I am installing WAS enterprise Version 5.0.0, I cannot get past the screen saying 'Run Websphere Admin server as a service'. Can anybody help me?
Here is my detailed problem.
I am using Windows 2000 Advanced server with servicepack 4. The windows system is in a domain. I have created the user 'wasadmin' with password 'wasadmin' in my local system (not domain users) and added it to local system 'Administrators' group. I have se
t the local security policy for the the user according to the steps in the installation guide. I have started the installation and when I came to the 'Run Websphere Admin server as a service' page, I selected it and gave the username and password as 'wasa
dmin' and 'wasadmin'. The window got blank and again showed me the same screen aftter few seconds. I tried it couple of times but same result. When I gave wrong password it said 'Invalid username or password' for the first time. After that even if I gave
wrong password it didn't say anything.
I tried with local 'Administrator' id. Still no change.
Restated the system and tried installation again. Still no change in the situation.
I don't understand what the problem is. Please help.

IIRC, if you're logged in to a domain, the userid you're using to
install must be a domain administrator.

Check that the user you are using to install has the following rights:
- Act as part of the operating system
- Log on as a service

| Oh thank you very much for the replies. I forgot that point. I am logged into my system using my own id (not admin id). Now I got it correct. Thanks again to both of you.
