Author J2CA0075W: An active transaction should be present while processing method allocateMCW

I get the following messages in the appserver SystemOut.log and the
activity.log files fairly regularly.

"J2CA0075W: An active transaction should be present while processing
method allocateMCWrapper."

and

"J2CA0075W: An active transaction should be present while processing
method initializeForUOW."

I am doing very basic stuff. Using WAS 5 datasources, getting a
datasource from JNDI and then getting a connection. Plain and simple.
No threads of my own. No EJBs. Couldn't get any simpler. There seems
to be no damage done though. If these messages are harmless, can
somebody from IBM please confirm that. I am getting nervous about
putting this into production.

I am using WebSphere 5.1.01 on AIX 5.1, Informix IDS 9.4 (all IBM
software)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I assume that you are using a DataSource from a Servlet. If that is the case
and the Servlet is a 2.3 Servlet you should probably configure the LCT
(Local Transaction Containment) accordingly. You can set this in the
proprietary deployment descriptor ibm-web-ext.xmi. You should probably use a
tool like the AssemblyToolkit to edit it.
If you just want to get rid of the message you can turn it off somewhere....
but I forgot where... Sorry,

We also get this message coming out on the SystemOut.log.

I am aware of the fact it is only a warning, and I am aware of the workaround to suppress it. However I am a little concerned why it is coming out at all, I would like to understand why. Our application has no EJBs and has no database threads of its own, these are the reasons given why this message is output.
Does anybody else have any idea why this might be happening? Thanks.
