Anyone know how to change hostname in WAS V5? Is it supported?

| Hi,
It seems like changing hostname (not just IP) after installing WAS V5 is
really complicate, there are references to the actual hostname all over the
places. Is there an official way of renaming WAS nodename? Would I still be
supported by IBM after that? I've seen someone propose doing a recursive
search/replace in the directory <WAS_HOME>/config, has anyone done that
successfully? What about the directory structure that has hostname too?
Any hints provided will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

A global search & replace in the <WAS_HOME>/config directory will work,
and make sure you rename the directories named for the node as well.
If you're running NetWork Deployment, do this on the DM box.

| I have done this and it worked fine, but do a
$WAS_INSTALL_ROOT/bin/backupconfig before making the changes just in case...

| Last time I checked, this was not supported on version 5. Ken's solution
should work, however...

| I have tried that solution on WIN 2k, and it works partially:
every time I start a different server in the Cluster (network dep)
the file serverindex.xml of the host which name has changed gets deleted, and the next time the server wont start.
żanybody experienced the same?
