WebSphere Application Server - character encoding

Hello,

I'm using application that uses iso8859-1 character encoding in database. I
have problems with reading data from that database. Does websphere enforces
character coding to UTF-8? How to change this to iso8859-1 for my
application?

i have modified startServer.sh script so appserver is being started with
-Dfile.encoding=ISO8859-1 and now there are no problems with interpreting
data. but now i wonder what about unicode applications ;)
as for that big application, websphere should not have that small
problems...
