IBM provides an interface (albeit a very awkward, difficult interface) to call vendor-specific methods on underlying JDBC objects like OracleConnection, OracleResultSet, etc. through the WebSphere wrapper. That might help you if you want to use the WebSp
here connection pool again at some point instead of maintaining your own. Documentation here:
