| Customer is asking if they can do this AIX upgrade without breaking their Websphere Application Server 4.0.6 Advanced Edition. Support matrix doesn't say yes or no.

Answer is then "maybe".
As WAS 4.0 is out of support, either they have an extended support and they
can ask IBM what they think of this migration, either they have no support
and have been at risk for some time already.

Here is the official statement regarding platforms that are not
explicitly supported.

| Paul, thanks. Yes that is where I got "doesn't say yes or no". And I understand that officially means "maybe". I'm really looking for a testimonial or a feel for what the odds are. Thanks,

| An important factor is the version they'd be migrating from, to determine
the "gap" to fill.
You'll want to discuss with AIX people to see the differences in AIX
versions and determine why there are "Recommended Maintenance packages" in
the WebSphere pre-requisites and what they exactly mean/imply, so you can
see the "subtle" impacts of an OS version on a product that aims at being
platform-independent.
Not a testimonial, but HTH.
