Clearing the Browser

| I am being asked if there is anyway WebSphere Portal Server can clear
the browser's cache when a user leave the portal site so that there is
no trace on the user's machine as to where the user visited on the
portal site.
Thanks!

| Jim,
in my opinion, this is not possible. You would need a "browser API" go
access the browser features or something. And I don't know of any
browser that supports this.

Is this possible after visiting any website at all? It seems very
unlikely

| I wonder if setting the pages as non-cacheable would work? That's to say,
stop them being cached in the first place.

This isn't a question of cache, it's about the browser history which can't
be controlled. It is a function of the browser to store or not store info on
where the user went, not a function of the website. If you want to not store
this info, I imagine we're talking some kind of multi-user terminal. Maybe
there is a way to lock down the settings in IE or whatever browser so that
nobody has rights to modify them. Then set it to not store history. In fact,
I think with TweakUI in Windows there is a way to set this. The trick is to
keep people from turning the option back on.
