Migration strategy?

| I'm getting ready to migrate from using WPS 4.1.4 to WPS 5.0. To do so, I'm putting together a migration strategy to make sure that all goes well and all of my "i"s are dotted and "t"s are crossed. Has anyone who has undergone such a migration already g
ot any pointers...or "gotchas" I might want to look out for?

If you have create a theme and skin you will probably have to remake your
work because WPS 5 Theme structure is different from WPS4.x. For example,
the "themes" folder is now under WAS_HOME and not WPS_HOME.
If you have developed a portlet, it must need some changes too. (Old
functions, different classpaths to the libraries, etc).
Some administratives tasks (indise the portal) are different too. The
"Administrative Page" is not the same, but you only need to practice to
get the "new way" for doing portal administration.
Hope it helps,

- Read the Infocenter migration section until you understand it (it's
not incredibly clear)
- I can't recall if they are mentioned but if you use TAM or Siteminder
determine if this might raise additional concerns
- Test it (several times, if possible) on a non-production system

| Does anyone know if it is possible to migrate from WPS 5 Express to WPS 5 Extend?

I don't believe that is supported. If it is, the Infocenter will discuss
it. If IBM never tested it you will probably find it is faster to
uninstall express and install extend rather than to try to work through
all the possible problems that would come up

| Hi,
I actually opened a pmr and got the following reply:
In order to go from Express to Enable/Extend, you need to buy the licence f=
or the new version. But in terms of migration, the Server code is the same,=
so once you buy the Enable/Extend cds, you can select what new components =
you want to install, for example WPCP, which Express does not include. But =
you don=B4t need to migrate anything.
Hope this is useful...
