Hi there,

I tried to update my WPS5 with Portal 5.0.2 fixPacks. At the final step, the
updation process failed.
The following is command line and error responded,

Actually, I have checked wpconfig_dynamic.xml at line 70, and can't find any
"isset" stuff.
Now, I can't start my was, and portal.

Any tip is appreciated.

The problem is version of ant.jar in c:\WebSphere\Appserver\lib

Well, a have the same problem, get the Ant version
http://archive.apache.org/dist/ant/...t-1.5.4-bin.zip
Extract with Winzip to the ant-directory-install
copy all files of ant-directory-install/lib to c:\WebSphere\Appserver\lib
Backup de old files.

With me it worked.

Im getting the same problem after applying the supplied Fixpack 5.0.2
(which came with WPS 5.0.2), but I am about to try the above solution.

Has anyone from IBM got any recommendations?

Looks like an Ant version problem, but I couldn't say for sure.

FYI, the update of ANT did not resolve any problems, but infact
possibly cause some. The verify still failed with the new ant lib (in
was/lib) and now I cannot uninstall WPS at all!

Looks like I originally messed up by installing the WPS fixpack 2
supplied with portal enable 5.0.2 downloads. Specifically I installed
the following (and it seems I shouldn't have done so) :

Download 43 of 58:WebSphere Portal V5.0.2 - WebSphere Portal Fix Pack
2, V5.0 (Fix Pack) File Name C54KQML.zip

Pretty obvious blunder when someone points it out! IBM support
responded;

From your email, you have actually performed the steps which are for
fixpack 2 upgrade install on existing WPS V5.0. The steps are not for
a fresh Portal install. I have also verified the installer name for
WPS Enabled V5.0.2, it is not C54KQML.

Your installation was not correct and you need to uninstall and clean
up your machine before reinstalling a fresh copy of WPS 5.0.2.

I've put this info up here (not just to embarrass myself) because my
web search didn't find anything, and this post may well help others !

Hey,

The fix for this 'WAS instance check' is this:

1. Check for the file 'server1.pid' (some times this file is not created if you manually started the WAS :-) under logs/server1 in WAS_HOME directory and if not, create one, JUST with the process id(U can get it from the startserver.log) associated wit
h WAS.

(or)

2. Second thing is do not start WAS. Just execute this wpsconfig script.

(or)

3. Go for this, when you can manually start WAS and you can access it ...

In wpconfig.xmlfile(under config directory in portal), find the following lines...

target name="init" depends="action-set-time-property"
antcall target="action-pre-process-wmm"
echo message="${TIME}"

antcall target="action-validate-was-instance"
antcall target="init-cfg-files"
target

and remove the line ....

antcall target="action-validate-was-instance"

then run your wpsconfg script
