| After a lot of frustration and finally getting Websphere portal to 5.0.2 I had to give up and go back to Portal 5.0. In the adminstration console of WAS I was getting a Servlet Error in the portion where the server details should have been. Said there was
a ServletException in:/secure/layouts/statusTrayLayout.jsp error. So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled Portal 5.0. Everything went well and then I started WAS and WP. Tried to connect with WSAD and it said cannot attach to JVM debug port 7777. So
I thought I might try and change the configuration to start the server in debug. I just changed one little thing in the administration console for WAS and saved teh server configuration and hten the same error I mentioned above started appearing again.
I am again uninstalling and then going to reinstall the whole thing. Takes a good 4 hours to install.... .
Does anyone have any idea why this thing is blowing???? Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Jac.

My guess is that one or more of the required Websphere fixes was not
installed or were somehow misapplied. Also ensure you install Websphere
Enterprise FP2

| well with my second install(WP 5.0) I just did a straightforward install from the CD set that IBM sent. It just prompts for the CDs and apparently installs without any errors. Not sure why it wont work then.

| ok....finally managed to start debug on Websphere_Portal. As earlier the administrator console started displaying errors. Strangely though after I left it running for a day the errors disappeared and now the console window seems to have returned to normal
. Dont want to investigate at this point as to what the problem was since it seems to be showing signs of cooperating.
