Author Geographically Distributed WPS Cluster?

I was wondering if anyone on this forum has experience of setting up WebSphere Portal in a geographically distributed environment. For example, I would like to set up one WPS site in USA and another in say Europe, and I cannot count on there being 100% re
liable network connectivity between the two sites. Another point to keep in mind is that neither site is considered a slave site - both sites are in simultaneous use and there is a load director in the front that decides what site a user is directed to (a
nd the load director uses geographical affinity).

One possible approach that I am considering would rely on using Oracle database replication procedures for the database piece, LDAP replication for user/user group sync, and file system sync software for the file system. Does anybody see potential issues
with this approach?

Can you use WAS/WPS clustering with a database cluster where the clusters are distributed geographically?

Looking forward to any insights in this issue.

Thanks-Vivek.
