test environments toolbar does not show admin link

| Hi,
my IDE is composed of the following.
WSAD 5.1
Portal Toolkit 502
on WIN2000 platform
I had everything running nicely after installation.
I enabled the base portlets in the server config - working perfectly.
I then installed IBM Directory server 5.1. - I want my testenvironment
to use ldap
my next step would have been to fiddle with wpconfig properties and
run wpsconfig.bat to enable ldap, but before that I started the test
environment to make sure I can still use the admin portlets, and I was
shocked:
the toolbar only shows the logout link and the question mark - all
other links are missing.
the console reports that the admin portlets are deployed, started,
initialized perfectly.
I assumed that the portal does not recognize my user as the portal
admin anymore.
I ran wpsconfig validate-wps-admin-login and it seemed (I do not find
the feedback very informatiove)to execute allright.
luckily I can restore an image of the system state when the admin
portlets where still accessible - but I am not sure about how to track
down which change caused the propblem.
hope somebody can help, or give me some hint (like a trace string
pattern - I have not managed to find out which class renders the
WPSToolbar part)
regards,
Olaf

| you should be able to edit one of those config xmls to disable
security and then restart the server - so that you'd still be able to
see the admin link......
also,
If IDS sits on the same machine as your test env is - pls check for
conflicts....IDS installs its own copy of WAS - and it is also called
server1 (how surprising ;) ?

I followed the instructions from infocenter to disable global security
- no success.
however, when I comment out the <wps:ifAdminPage> tags
in toolbarinclude.jsp in the themes dir I get the ladmin link.
I could investigate further to find out how this tag works - but I do
not want to dive into this too deeply.
the funny thing is that wps-config-validate-admin reports that the
admin login works fine and I would assume that the ifAdminPage tag
relies on the same authentication mechanism.
