Hi,

I have an installation problem with the WPS 5.0.2.
I am installing WAS and WPS without any web server plugin.
WAS is installed without problems and WPS is installed fine
until the installation process is about to use xmlaccess to connect
to http://localhost:80/wps/config, where I get an "Could not connect
to portal" error message.
The part that is making me most confused is that I've made an
installation using these installation files once and succeeded, but
running the same installation again after removing the portal fails.
Is there anyone who has had a similar problem and solved it?

Regards,

Fredrik Andersson

Are you sure portal 80 isn't being used by IIS? If MS IIS is running, shut
the service down or restart the server with IIS set to Manual.

The IIS is not a problem, I am installing on a Solaris machine. Port 80 is
not used by
any program at the time the installation process is trying to run xmlaccess.

When reinstalling, the installation process states that there is already an
instance of
WAS on the machine. This is incorrect, since I removed the previous
instance. But since
the installation process seems to disagree with me on that, I am wondering
if there exists
a directory where WAS and WPS stores information outside of the specified
installation
directory (for Solaris). I tried to use the uninstall program to remove the
previous
installation but the program failed during uninstall, so I simply removed
the directories
containing the WAS and WPS installations. Maybe I need to remove some other
files
as well to be able to make a proper installation?

Hi Frederik,

Probably the HTTP Server will not redirect your request to WAS/WPS because
you don't have any plugin installed. Without this plugin and the
plugin-cfg.xml file
the HTTP Server doesn't know where the WAS is.

Try to access directly to the WPS HTTP transport throught the port 9081:

http://localhost:9081/wps/config

I hope this will help you

Regards.

What happens when you try to launch your own Browser and go against
localhost:80/wps/config ?? Do you get a page ?? If it errors out what is the
error ?? Is there any chance that localhost is being resolved to something
other than 127.0.0.1 ??

Check Portal logs, usually there are messages logged that indicate the
reason why the xmlaccess part is failing.

yes, simply deleting the files was a bad idea.

Look with pkginfo for installed packages and remove them with pkgrm.
Furthermore search for a file vpd.properties and delete it.
