RAD 6.0: Failed to install Integrated Test Environment...

| Hi
So I decided it was time to install RAD 6.0 on my WinXP machine. What
could possibly go wrong? Yeah right...
Anyway when I install using the launchpad UI start screen the error
message I get at the end of the installation is:
IBM Rational Application Developer V6.0 will still run, but IBM
WebSphere Application Server V6.0 Integrated Test Environment may not be
available. For more information, refer to the installation guide.
When clicking next to complete the installation I get a new message:
Errors occurred during the installation. One or more errors occurred
during the copying of files (b_final_cd_hook) . Please refer to the
install log for additional information.
Ok, so I refer to the installation guide and sure enough there is a
section on just this error. It tells me to look for log.txt. However,
this file is nowhere to be found. It also states that the file is placed
in the temp directory for most of the installation and is copied towards
the end of the process, but I see no log.txt file at all in my temp
directory. (I see one in my home directory but contains uninstall
information from de-installing a previous failed installation attempt)
Any ideas anyone?
Before I started I disabled/quit any antivirus and firewall software and
anything else running in the tray that I didn't think was needed.
I haven't even dared attempt to install the portal toolkit when I can't
even get this working...
Help really appreciated
regards
Lee Francis

| Do you have another instance of WAS installed on the box?
I was able to install RAD with WAS6.0 at one point, but tried again
recently. It falied
similar to yours, and the only difference I could think of was I now have an
instance of WAS5.1 external
installed.
Just a thought, not a solution though.

Not this is actually a fresh WinXP installation. Hardly anything else
installed
