anonymous portal user-User and Group Permissions

Hello All,

I want to know what is the purpose of Role (Administrator, Security Administrator, Delegator, Manager, Editor and Privileged User)check boxes provided in User and Group Permissions for anonymous portal user for all resources.

After providing full permission (marking all check boxes on) anonymous portal user can't perform Edit, Config etc.

Please advice.
