Migrating Portal Express 5.0.x to Enable 5.1.0.1

| Have a customer looking at going from Portal Express 5.0.x to Portal Enable 5.1.0.x. I am aware the code base is the same and saw the 2004 posts on this topic. So,
(1) would this migration path be similar to the Enable 5.0.x to Enable 5.1.0.x migration?
(2) any papers on installing the additional components?
(3) should additional components be installed/configured before or after the upgrade to 5.1.0.x?

there are significant changes between 5.0 and 5.1, not only the whole security has been changed but also the Portlet API, the introduction of Virtual Portals is new in 5.1, the support for Domino 6.5, etc. Even from 5.1 to 5.1.01 there are some major chan

Before answering your questions it is important to know how the customer has been used the 5.0 environment.

| Can, thanks for the reply to the post. I am aware of the changes for V5.1.0.x, however am looking for issues between Express and Enable. I have seen InfoCenter Migration documentation as well as the V5.1 handbook red book, however the statement made is
"you can migrate to Portal V5.1 only from WebSphere Portal Versions 4.xxx..., and any 5.0.x VERSION, but not edition. I am assuming that Express is like Enable in single server/stand alone mode (no ND) ... but would like some concurrence or disagreement,
and would welcome any info on Express to Enable.

| Since I did not get a reply I went in search of the answer. Here's what I confirmed from a reliable source:
- Yes, the Express migration is like an Enable migration
- Express should be updated to Enable first (Enable functionality implemented) - then migrated to 5.1.0.x
- Apparently no papers available for this specific update path since the process is the same as for an Enable-Enable migration which is already documented.
