A bit newbee to the portal so have me excused it this should be bleeding obvious :-)

Here is a walk through for deploying themes and skins in a production environment.

What will be the difference between the above mentioned way to do it and this xml access way to do it?

"The DeployTheme.xml example shows how you can use XML scripts to install new themes and skins into your portal. Be aware that the XML scripts create these resources only in the portal database, so that they can be used in the portal. In addition, you hav
e to write the JSPs that perform the actual visualization and copy them to the resource directory specified in the XML before you can use the theme in the portal"
