I believe an upgrade can take place if the db is accessed via a higher
cloudscape level however it is accessed. For instance if the cloudscape
drivers are upgraded by a fixpack or you use a cloudscape client to connect
to the server etc. Once the versions are upgraded you need to connect using
the updated drivers.

Not sure if that is it. Perhaps looking at Cloudscape support might yield
some help?
