Modifying User registration page

I have uncommented the interest field from UserProfileForm.jsp and UserProfileConf.jsp. attribute entries are added in XML files. However on confirming registration error reading "interest attribute" is not defined" will be logged to log file. Please help
me how I can fix this issue.
