Uploading / Downloading Large 100mb files to Doc Manager 5.1

I am trying to use the PDM in v 5.1 to store large graphics files - Adobe EPS files for example. We are having problems - even going directly to the portal (no http server)with timeouts, failures. Ideally if a service similar to the IBM Document Manager
was available - restartable, multi-stream optimization, this would be great. Any suggestions.
