Author how to backup the portal?

is there a convenient way to backup/restore the portal install?

I am quite flustered by the situations wherein portal becomes un(usable) on account of properties munging I do, to configure it, in attempt to achieve the right combination. Sometime, the portal gets totally busted and have to prey a lot for it to come to
a sane state back again.

Is there a way, I could back it up and restore it back in case of screw-up?

I use rh linux.

Which directories are ok to tar and store in backup image?

If you happen to be using Cloudscape you might be okay by tar'ing the
WebSphere directory itself after the install.

In other cases, I have just zipped up a copy of the Cloudscape portal dbs
themselves.
