terminate wps with security on, but authorization failure?

| I configured the ldap (which WPS did not like, but did not crib) and started the ldap.
I can login to the portal, but when I try to stop portal server, I get an authorization failure message.
ADMN0022E: Access denied for the stop operation on Server MBean due to insufficient or empty credentials.
Is there a way, I can forceablu shut down the wps, without having to kill all the processes running java?
If killing processes is the only option, how do I distinguish which process is for websphere application server (server1) and which is for portal server (WebSphere_Portal)?
