Install error, "WAS server location is not valid"

| Hi,
OS: Windows XP/Sp2
Installation prompts for two paths, i accept the defaults. Then I am
prompted for portal admin's user/password which I enter. Then I press
return.
Installation gives the error message indicating that WAS server location
is invalid and says, "Press OK to exit". No log file written, therefore
no further details.
What is the problem?
Thanks
