Hello,

Windows XP SP 2
Rational Software Architect V6.0
WebSphere Portal V5.1.0.1

I am trying to re-install my WebSphere Portal V5.1 UTE environment on a
Windows XP machine. I previously had the portal server integrated
runtime installed and working properly. I am not trying to re-install
the test environment on the same machine after I uninstall it, however,
the install is getting stuck at the 24% mark with the following message:

(May 15, 2006 11:39:27 AM), Setup.product.install,
com.installshield.wizard.platform.win32.Win32ProductServiceImpl, msg1,
installing Exec Action From Directory (installWindowsGskitBean)

I have tried cleaning disk space but that has not helped. I also
followed the instructions on the following link to ensure my portal
server was properly uninstalled, but the error is still present:

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docvie...g21219986&aid=1

Has anyone seen this error or know how to work around it?

thanks,
-Emilio

My temporary workaround was to kill the setup.exe process for installing
the GsKit (iKeyMan utility) application. Since this installation was
blocking the entire portal UTE install, after the setup.exe was killed
the portal install continue with the installation.

However, the GsKit tool was not installed and further debugging needs to
be performed to determine the reason the GsKit setup.exe is not
installing correctly.

The stack trace that is hang is as follows:

ntoskrnl.exe+0x4856
win32k.sys+0x2fa0
win32k.sys+0x43f57
win32k.sys!EngDeleteSurface+0x3ffd
win32k.sys!EngFreeUserMem+0x40a2

vsdatant.sys+0xeebf
ntdll.dll!KiFastSystemCallRet
setup.exe+0x4d36
setup.exe+0x4820
kernel32.dll!RegisterWaitForInputIdle+0x49

the command line called by the portal UTE installshield program was
"E:\win\WAS\ihs\skit\setup.exe" WAS5.1.0.0 C:\PROGRA~1 -s -f1
skit\Setup.iss > "C:\Program

Did you try stopping your webserver?

Probably Windows file handle to dll.
