WPS 5.1 installation/downloading
|
|
|
| How do you install wps 5.1? Do you have cd's or do you download from ibm site? I can't figure out which files I need to download, and during the installation it keeps asking me "Please insert the CD labeled WebSphere Portal CD #1-2 and enter its location
below". I have C82Y1ML, C82Y2ML, C82XSML and C82XUML. I had no problems with installing WAS, WSAD, WSSD or other products.

Foundation WebSphere Application Server V5.1 Fixpack 1 (1-15) CD
IBM WebSphere Portal V5.1 - Portal Server (2) CD

So could you please tell me where to download these files?

I see, but I only have cdSetup Portal Install (Setup), V5.1, cd1-3, cd4-2 ,cd5-2 ,cd 5-4, cd cd6-2, cd 6-8. So should I install WPS 5.1 in Linux env because I didn't have cd 1-2?

I haven't installed it myself, so I have to point you to the install instructions for Portal
5.1 Test environment in RAD 6 installation guide (install.html in your \rad_install_directory\rad_prod)

| Thank you all the same. I'll try it.

|
| Did you ever get this resolved? I'm running into the same error. Please insert the CD labeled WebSphere Portal CD #1-2 and enter its location below. It doesn't seem to like entering a path. I don't have the physical CDs. Is there a problem if you hav
e just downloaded the code? Not sure what path it is looking for.

If you unpack the files to directories, the directory names need to be the same as the CD names.

Juanma, thanks for the reply. I currently have E:\Portal51demoPOCHL\Portal51demoPOC\cd5
-1 as the path. I'm assuming that is the correct path. Is there a subdirectory I should be using? I have the following directories:
E:\Portal51demoPOCHL\Portal51demoPOC\cd1
-1
E:\Portal51demoPOCHL\Portal51demoPOC\cd4
-1
E:\Portal51demoPOCHL\Portal51demoPOC\cd5
-1
E:\Portal51demoPOCHL\Portal51demoPOC\cd5
-3
E:\Portal51demoPOCHL\Portal51demoPOC\set

That looks OK, the problem seems to be the install is asking for cd1-2 and you don't have that one.

I don't know, but you didn't have a cd1-2 directory in the directory list you posted, so if
it is, it should be in a directory named cd1-2 so the installer program can find it.

| As far as i found out, there are two ways to instal WPS 5.1: on WBIF 5.1 or on WAS 6.0
I tried only the second way, i'll check the first one tomorrow.
So, to instal on WAS 6.0, you will need:
1. C587WML (WebSphere Application Server for Developers V6.0)
2. refreshpack2 6.0-WS-WAS-WinX32-RP0000002.zip
3. latest cumulative fix pack e.g. 6.0.2-WS-WAS-WinX32-FP0000001.zip
4. C82Y1ML, C82Y2ML, C82XSML (these 3 you already have)
You should be able to get first one from wherever you got last three files.
Second and third files you can get from ibm support or from here:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software...fixpacks/was60/
My installation scenario:
1. Install WAS 6.0
2,3. Upgrade it to 6.0.2 or 6.0.3
4. Launch install.bat from C82XSML
When you are asked for other CD during installation, you select any folder from C82Y1ML, C82Y2ML, C82XSML, and you should find suitable one.

| Well this link helped be get through the error with looking for cd1-2. Hope this helps you also.
From:
http://notes.demopkg.ibm.com/faq_w3...a4?OpenDocument
With RAD installed, the steps listed below provides sequence of the "CDs Requested".
Because of the Co-existence, during the install you will see this message pop up. WebSphere Application Server coexistence scenario.
IMPORTANT: See the Development Feedback section . If you do not follow the instruction below, the install will fail after the you apply Fixpack1. In this coexistence scenario, WP5.1 installer launches WAS installer. At following screen of WAS installer, u
ser must change Embedded messaging install location from default to <AppServer>\WebSphere MQ, or installation fails with the message WBISF is not installed correctly. This is because WP5.1 installer has this path hard coded in it.
Listed below is the sequence you should experience. Drilling down the product directories when asked, will point to the root of the CD equivalent

| I am having this same issue. Looking at the bat file it seems like there is some sort of hard coded naming conventions but I have no idea what they are. The install seems to expect a specific file path and directory names for the images i have downloade
d but nothing I do seem to work. Anyone else have any success with this? The link that one of the posters published here with notes to a solution does not work anymore. Anyone have any ideas. I am tearing me hair out.
