As far as I know, the news, weather, and stocks portlets need to connect
to backend servers to get their data. It looks like in case you use your
proxy, the portlets cannot access those backend servers. I think you
have to configure the ContentAccessService to allow access to your
proxies, so that the portlets can connect to the backend servers through
your proxy server.
