Automatic detection of domino mail file from Domino Web Access Portlet not working

I have configured the domino web access portlet in websphere portal to automatically detect the user's mail file which is on domino server. Single Sign on (SSO) works fine between the Portal Server and domino servers. I have read the IBM technote and othe
r postings that suggest adding the portal login id into the FullName or ShortName field of the person document for the user. In our scenario, we cannot do this as this will affect our other apps.

We have an EmployeeID field in the person doc which is the same id as the portal login id. Is there any way that we could use this field to detect the mail server and mail file of the user.

Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.
