Hello,
Inorder to run the Websphere Application Server and Websphere Portal as a service, requires the user must be a local user ID with administrator authority and the following policy rights: "Log on as a service" and "Act as part of the operating system."

How can I change my administrative privileges to the policy mentioned above in Windows XP. (The installer talks about using Windows Services for the purpose, cant locate the services window either). I would appreciate any help.
Thanks!

First, click on start>Settings>Taskbar and Start Menu, click on the Start Menu Tab at the top once the property is displayed, Using the Classic menu style, click on Customize, make sure the Administrative Tools checkbox is checked, click on OK and then OK
again to close the property window. The Admin Tools should be on your start menu now.

Second, using your start menu, select Administrative Tools, and then 'Local Security Policy'. This is where you change your admin rights. Right-click on and select properties on any of the policy options, and then add your local admin user you created t
o the selected policies........Hope this helps.

Sri,

Have you checked that there is no port conflict between Portal and your
newly installed version of WAS?
