Populating the credential vault

| This may not even be feasible but I need to ask. We would like use the credential vault in order to have SSO to a backend application. There's already several hundred users set up with ID/PW to the backend application. Is it possible to populate the cre
dential vault via some type of batch process or via the XML Interface or can credentials only be input one user at a time via a portlet? Any help is greatly appreciated.
