Ok, here is deal. Try Site Analyzer logging. The performance hit will be less than 5% as per our tests with 2000 virtual users trying to login.

If you are using Portal 5.1.0.x then you will see all the cookies JSESSIONID, SMSESSION, LtpaTOKEN and all those stuff. For your requirement, only JSESSIONID information is enough.

So install PK23831 and then in the file referred in above link, append this line at the end:

SiteAnalyzerFormatter.cookies=JSESSIONID


Then let me know how it goes.
