Websphere portlet session timeout.

The portal application contains two or more portlets.
If a portlet kept ideal for 1 hour then portlet session is getting expired.
screen is getting displayed as blank.

My question is

1.what is reason for this?
2.which kind of exception it is throwing?
3.How to solve this problem?

Pls help me to solve this problem.
