What is stored in this path?

Can anyone tell me what these two paths are used for or what is stored in them? 1. /opt/WebSphere/PortalServer/collections/PortalCollection/scanners
2. /opt/WebSphere/PortalServer/collections/PortalCollection

Any help/answers will be appreciated.
