I have been tasked with adding a drop menu for one of the top navigation nodes. The drop down list is not an issue. I am having trouble with reading the children from that node. I can hard code these but do not want to have to reboot my servers every t
ime I add or change or remove a department. Can anyone out there help me with this please. I am on portal 6.0.1.1. Not sure that it makes a difference but I have a cell that has 2 portal nodes clustered. Thanks.

have you tried using the model spi? the themes and skins white paper<br />
<a class="jive-link-external" href="http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=688&uid=swg21284974">http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docvie...uid=swg21284974</a><br />
<br />
shows how to use the model spi to fetch the children of the various nodes.<br />
<br />
It is in the drop down menu example<br />

I appreciate all your help. But, I am still having issues. I keep getting errors that talk about symbols. What I have done is try to take the code that you have in Appendix C and place in my topNav.jspf but when I restart my portal I get a symbol error
. I try to move stuff around a little differently but still get the same thing. So I am kind of stuck at this point.

Ok - think I have figured out what was happening with the symbol error message. My import of the jar class' was too specific. Thanks for the help.
