Author Webservice request from portlet

2007-02-22, 1:19 pm

A stupid question perhaps, but someone have to ask those questions as well! =) What if I wan't to make a webservice request from portlet code and display the result in the portlet. If I make the request from doView() there's a big risk that it will mess u
p the rendering of my portlet (if the request does not succeed immediately), and thus the whole page.

I know there is a wizard for making WS-request from portlets if you use JSF-portlets. But I wan't to code this request myself, since I don't want any automatically generated GUI to be connected to my WS-request.

Is there a way to handle the WS-request so that I can avoid this problem?

Thanks!
