Common PIM search directory

| I am running Portal 6.0.0.1 and Domino 7.0.2 on different servers. Portal uses AD as its LDAP and Domino uses Domino.
I have configured common mail and calendar to go against domino, and have configured sso. When I compose a new message and search for a recipient, or try to add users to a group calendar, a "directory search" dialog box pops up.
Search fails for whatever I type into the search for field. I get the error:
The server can not perform the search right now. Try searching later.
Does anyone know where the configuration area for this search dialog is, or why I may be getting this error?
