Author RAD 7 and Portal 6 Test Environment

Hi,

We are using Websphere Portal 6. Recently, we have installed RAD 7 and we would like to use it for new portal projects, by developing/customizing and publishing portlets, themes and skins. Is it RAD 7 recommended for these tasks?

We are trying to work with RAD 7 but we didn't found a way to install or use Portal 6.0 Test Environment. I have tried to change some items in theme/skin and visualize results in a Portal Test Environment, but it's not working(or not correctly installed).

I have read some forum posts, articles and documentation in developerworks but it doesn't seem so clearly about Portal 6.0 Test Environment and RAD 7.

Is Portal 6.0 Test Environment included in RAD 7 installation? If so, how can i install or activate it? Is it possible to visualize portal prototipes locally by using it? Do i need install a full Portal 6 server in my desktop for local testing?

All your feedback and help will be very appreciated.

Thanks.

There is no test environment like there was for Portal 5.1. For Portal 6 in RAD 7 you install the full portal server installation. This has been discussed in some detail in the following post:

Yes it comes packaged with the RAD 7 installation and is one of the additional installation options that appears when you run the RAD 7 launchpad
