Author Starting/stopping portal and synchronization with Windows services

2007-08-07, 7:26 am

I've installed portal 5.1 on Windows and enabled it to run as a windows-service. I've noticed that when the portal server is started from the start-menu, the status on the service is not synchronized, i.e. the service can still have status "stopped" while
the portal is actually running. Shouldn't the service status be synchronized no matter how you start/stop the server? Taken this into consideration, what is the preferred way to start/stop the server? (service, start menu, command prompt)

Thanks!
