Author Default installation folder for websphere profiles

2007-08-10, 7:22 pm

Hi,

I followed the default installation process to install websphere portal6 ND from the e-Assembly. The only change is I specified the websphere/portal to be installed into c:\websphere folder instead of the default. After the installation of app server and
portal server, I found out the app server's profile was saved into
c:\ibm\websphere folder instead of as a subfolder in the c:\websphere\appserver. Is this by design?

I don't have this problem in websphere portal 5.0.1.2 (on top of websphere application server 6.0.2.7).

Thanks

With portal 6, the profile is stored in a separate folder
(c:/ibm/websphere). Therefore I assume your experience is by design.

Thank you. Is there a way to specify an alternative path for profiles?

yes, as a parameter of the installation script. For example:

install.bat -W detectProfileAction.profileName="wp_profile" -W
detectProfileAction.profilePath="c:\Profile"
