| hello guys,

have you encountered problems with the latest portal 5.1 fixpack?

on my current installation, i could name a few but it keeps hampering our production:

portlets takes to lonng to install and uninstall, most of the time in the SystemOut log it says Installation/Uninstallation completed but in the web site it is still 50% and whne you checked in /installedApps no folder for that particular portlet wher
e created thus giving you "Portlet Unavailable" error when you post that portlet on a page.

follow-up query about this, is it ok if the portlet was created in RAD6.0 with Portal Test Environment 5.1.0.0 only and your production portal where the portlet whould later be installed is version 5.1.0.5?

when there are Search Collections, that portal hans up and later on will be stopped automatically. This problem is consistent whenever we create Search Collections.

this are a few i could mention. could anyone give me your thoughts about this!

Thanks in advance!

| for the install problem. Is this a cluster that you are having the problem with? are you running out of temp space? what os is this on?
| hello jim,

i am using aix5L v5.3 and i still have lot of space for my temp folder. however there are times where i got "out of memory" error of the whole system. i think this happens when my portal hungs and then suddenly stops i think its running out of paging spac

| well the out of memory happens to pertain to the jvm memory itself, not what is available in your temp folder. What are your heap settings for your portal server?

You can find these in the was admin console under the jvm settings.
| hello jim,

i have set it min=128 and max=1280 for a 2GB physical memory

| It sounds like you might have a missbehaving application then.
What I would do then is the following steps in the technote

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docvie...a=portall2& uid=swg21209460

then open a PMR with support and they can help on why you are running into an OOM condition
| thanks jim,

i already opened a PMR for my Search Collection problem. However, do you have any ideas as to why it took me at least 3 hours to have a complete portlet installation????

| is this in a cluster? if so what are the settings on the dmgr? is it running out of file space or memory?
